Mt. Hyonosen

Mt. Hyonosen is the tallest mountain in Hyogo Prefecture. With a height of 1510 meters, it is viewed to be a top-class treasure of the Kansai Area. Along with Mt. Hachibuse, it is declared as a Hyōnosen-Ushiroyama-Nagisan Quasi-National Park. The area is surrounded by bountiful nature and is one of the few places where subarctic marine plants live in Western Japan. During the green season, the area is perfect for sightseeing and enjoying the unique plants while mountain climbing, hiking, exploring the canyons, or camping. Photographers most frequently come at the start of May before rice planting begins to take photos of the backward reflection of Mt. Hyonosen in the rice terraces (Bekku no Tanada) that are filled with water.
