Established as one of the main 5 shrines in Tajima, the existence of the Yabu-jinja Shrine has been established since the year 737. The shrine represents the God of Agriculture, and has been appreciated by locals for a long time. It is called Yabu no Myojin San or the Myojin of Yabu by many locals and has been established as the god of cows. The shrine's location is quiet and serene and has a quality that could only be found in the more rural areas of Japan.
During Hatsumode (First Shinto shrine visit at the beginning of the new year) locals gather by the temple. It is also known as one of the most popular destinations to see the fall leaves change. Many tourists and photographers visit the area during this time.
